INTERPREX SCANDINAVIA

Interprex Scandinavia AB is a provider of specialist project management services for business and conference interpretation. Our services include booking interpreters, as well as their travel and accommodation, and organising technical solutions with a technician. In addition, we offer personal project management services to enable you to focus on the meeting you are organising.

Our aim is that the interpretation services we provide for you will contribute to making your meeting as successful as possible, where every participant is able to understand all that is said and able to speak the language of their choice.

OUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Our project managers at Interprex have been involved in establishing professional conference interpreting services in Sweden since the 1990s, when the Swedish Export Council started to develop the sector at the time of Sweden’s accession to the then European Community. Practice makes perfect, which means that we are the most knowledgeable and experienced team working in the Swedish market. We have experience of three Swedish EU Presidencies and have organised interpretation services at congresses, UN conferences, royal events, ministerial meetings, state visits, Nobel seminars, EWC meetings, AGMs, quarterly report presentations, award ceremonies, study visits, author talks, interviews, arbitration proceedings, press conferences, business meetings, live broadcasts of presidential speeches, party leader debates, formal ceremonies and much more. During Sweden’s EU Presidency in the spring of 2023, we provided conference interpreters for a large number of parliamentary meetings as well as the final Presidency meeting COSAC, with simultaneous interpretation to and from all the EU languages with, in total, 51 interpreters.

OUR OFFERING

All meetings are different. Our interpretation solutions are tailor-made and specific to each event and thanks to our long experience we are able to anticipate the needs of very different types of meetings. We offer package solutions covering everything from the first needs analysis and tender to completion and evaluation. We have access to a unique network of professional interpreters and technical suppliers for all types of meetings. We primarily cooperate with skilled professional conference interpreters who are members of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) or who are ACIs, accredited to work for the European institutions.

We provide interpretation services within Europe as well as outside Europe for:

  • Physical meetings

  • Remote meetings

  • Hybrid meetings

PHYSICAL MEETINGS

For traditional conference interpreting, our interpreters sit with the participants at the actual venue. We install the interpreting booths, one for each language combination, where two interpreters take turns interpreting discussions simultaneously. The listeners use wireless headsets and a qualified technician ensures that everything runs smoothly throughout the meeting.

REMOTE MEETINGS

Simultaneous interpretation is also possible remotely – i.e. for online meetings. A special Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI) platform is often used where the participants can speak and listen to their language of choice through different language channels. The interpreters connect via their home offices or sit together in an interpreting studio with an interpretation technician at hand.

HYBRID MEETINGS

Hybrid meetings are now common – i.e. a physical and digital meeting combined. Some of the listeners and/or speakers participate remotely while others are on site in person. The interpreters are either present or interpret through an RSI platform.

INTERPRETING STUDIO

The interpreting team can work together in an interpreting studio with a technician at hand who works the equipment, ensures that the internet connection is good and that the interpretation is broadcast to the meeting participants, providing support both to the interpreters and the participants. The interpreters sit in booths where they can communicate directly with their colleague and where they follow the meetings on screens.

We offer interpreting studios in many countries.

SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION

The interpreters normally work in twos, two in each booth, and they take turns interpreting into their respective languages. They interpret while the speaker speaks, in real time, and the listeners listen using a headset. A skilled interpreting technician ensures that everything runs smoothly throughout the meeting. This type of interpreting is common for meetings with many listeners, for example, congresses, conferences, EWC meetings, company strategy and kick off events, lectures and party leader debates.

CHUCHOTAGE/WHISPERING INTERPRETATION

Whispering interpretation or chuchotage is like simultaneous interpretation but without the booth. The interpreter might sit next to or just behind one or two participants, or he/she may use mobile equipment with a microphone for the interpreter and headsets for the listeners. Mobile equipment is useful for study visits when touring a factory or for a guided tour.

CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION

For consecutive interpretation, the speaker and interpreter take turns - the speaker speaks first then the interpreter steps in. This may involve interpreting 10-minute speeches, which requires a very skilled professional interpreter with a good memory and good note-taking technique.

Consecutive interpretation can be used for a speech made on a stage to a large audience. The interpreter either stands on the stage together with the speaker or nearby at a standing table.

An international conference is not a dress rehearsal, in other words, the second the microphone is turned on to welcome the participants, the interpretation has to deliver.
